Auriga Internet Multimedia Keyboard Driver
Here are the registry entries required to make the Auriga
Internet
keyboard work correctly with Windows 2000 and XP. No driver is
required! It is not strictly a driver just an update to the registry
to enable the keys to do what they were intended for. Before I
applied this fix one of the volume keys would start the calculator and
not change the volume.
The model number on the back of my keyboard is: CKBM-001
The XP/2000 Install Procedure
- Simply download this
.reg file
(right click and choose save as).
- Double click on the saved file.
- The registry editor will ask if you want to add these settings to
the registry. Click on yes.
- It will add the required scan code fixes
to the registry.
- Disable [I also unistalled] the doggy driver that was supplied
with the
keyboard.
- Reboot and all the "extra" keys should work.
I mapped "close" to "www stop" the rest are the defaults.
I haven't seen the eject or help keys do anything yet, but I mapped it
to the codes specified at this page
The Linux / XFree86 Install Procedure
For Linux you need to run the xmodmap command with this file. Download save
it to the file name $HOME/.xmodmap ($HOME is your home
directory).
This file maps the function buttons to virtual F13-F28 keys (from left
to right).
- I use kde; so I made an application icon called xmodmap in the
the $HOME/.kde/Autostart directory which runs the command "xmodmap $HOME/.xmodmap"
- When setting up you can just run the previous command manually
from a terminal. Do this for the following step to work without having
to log in again.
- using the kde menu editor (right click on the K menu icon to find
it) Go to the various programs you wish to start with the buttons
and set up each by pushing it.
- I use the "kmix" applet which also allows you to define the keys
for volume up/volume down and mute.
I'm running Redhat 7.3 on the machine that uses this keyboard. So your
success with above procedure will depend on how compatible
your version of Linux is. Things that may need to be changed are
the format of the xmodmap file and where kde or your window manager
starts programs from.
If you use either of these fixes drop me an email at John.R.Fulton@gmail.com
and let me know how you went..
ps. I have no association with Auriga, I just have one of their
keyboards!
Keytouch - Fedora 7
Stephen Q. from New Zealand [not his real email address] used the
program keytouch under
Fedora 7. A copy of his configuration file is here.
